Eco-Bricking for Impact

Over the past two weeks, MYP students in Grades 6 - 10 took part in eco-bricking activities during homeroom and ma ruam gun. Students packed single-use plastic waste into bottles to create eco-bricks, learning first-hand about upcycling and waste reduction. A total of 39 completed eco-bricks will be taken to Spirit Mountain in Ao Nang, Krabi, during the Grade 8 camp, where they will be used to build garden beds. This student-led initiative, shared by Sophie (Grade 8), highlights meaningful learning in action, with plans to expand eco-bricking to homes and Primary classes in the future.

Reducing Waste at School Events

Thank you to our community for supporting more sustainable practices at Intercultural Day by bringing reusable utensils from home and using school-provided reusable options. As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing waste, food stall events will no longer provide single-use utensils. Families will continue to be encouraged to bring reusable plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery, helping model responsible choices for our students.

Compost Stations and Clear Guidance

New compost banners are now in place at our three-brick compost stations, which were collaboratively built by parents, staff, and students. These stations support composting of fruit scraps, grass clippings, coffee grounds, and bunny droppings, turning waste into nutrient-rich soil for our campus gardens.

Friday Herbs at the School Gate

The school gardening group will begin offering free, fresh herbs in reused containers every other Friday after the February break. Available herbs will include dill, basil varieties, and turmeric, with donations welcome. This initiative promotes container reuse, waste reduction, and healthy eating within our community.

Recycling Station – From Waste to Wow

Our campus recycling station continues to support responsible waste sorting, with clear sections for cardboard, plastic bottles, milk cartons, glass, and cans. Managed weekly by the Sustainability Committee, the station relies on community cooperation to function effectively. By recycling correctly, reducing waste, and carrying reusable cups, we can all help care for our shared environment.

 Parents are warmly invited to join a Sustainability Coffee Morning to learn more about our school’s sustainability journey, including work with Compass Education, the Global Schools Programme, and integration of the UN Sustainable Development Goals across learning.

Sustainability Staff Meeting
 Wednesday, 11 March
 Staff will come together to reflect on progress, review sustainability data, and explore hands-on workshops connected to curriculum and practice.

Sustainability-Focused School Day
 Tuesday, 17 March from 10:20 am - 12:50 pm
 Grades 1 - 11 will take part in a sustainability-focused morning, beginning with an assembly in the MPH followed by student-, staff-, parent-, and community-led workshops across campus.
Together, these initiatives reflect our shared commitment to caring for people, planet, and future — one thoughtful action at a time.
