Exploring the World of Work: UWC Thailand’s Grade 10 Work Experience Week 2025

Exploring the World of Work: UWC Thailand’s Grade 10 Work Experience Week 2025
UWC Thailand

From 9 to 13 June 2025, Grade 10 students at UWC Thailand stepped beyond the classroom and into the professional world during the much-anticipated Work Experience Week. This annual initiative encourages students to explore potential career paths, gain real-world skills, and connect academic learning to practical applications — all while reflecting on their passions and future ambitions.

“Work Experience Week is not just about shadowing professionals — it’s about helping our students see who they can become. Whether they’re learning in a clinic, a kitchen, or a classroom, they’re developing the confidence and curiosity to shape their own futures.”
— Chantal Kruger, UWC Thailand Secondary Vice Principal & MYP Coordinator

This year, students ventured into a wide array of industries both in Phuket and abroad. Student Voices & Reflections

“I worked at a pharmacy, and it opened my eyes to how important clear communication is when helping people. I never thought I’d enjoy something so structured — but it actually made me feel like I was part of something meaningful.”
— Athena, Grade 10 (Hong Kong)

Throughout the week, students reflected on the excitement of hands-on learning, the challenges of professionalism, and new-found insights into career paths they hadn’t considered before. Many expressed a renewed appreciation for their education and a clearer sense of their future goals.

As UWC Thailand continues to prepare students for life beyond school, Work Experience Week remains a key opportunity to connect classroom learning with the skills, empathy, and awareness needed to make a meaningful impact in the world.
