Joel joined UWC Thailand in 2017 after having previously worked in both Australia and International Education Institutions for 20 years. He has a BA in Education from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Multimedia in Education from Swinburne University. Joel has been a certified Arrowsmith Practitioner since 2017 and has previously predominantly worked in Numeracy and Learning Support roles. Joel develops positive working relationships with students and empowers students to be owners and drivers of their learning journey. He is passionate about ensuring students grow to be the best person they can be: socially, emotionally and academically using a range of tools, tips, tricks and techniques unique for each child. Joel was joined in 2019 by one of his three daughters who has since successfully completed her studies at UWC Thailand. Joel loves the outdoors and in particular the surfing that Phuket can provide during the monsoon season, as well as travelling and exploring all corners of Thailand at every opportunity. Joel is an animal lover with two rescue cats and supports the Phuket Soi Dog Association as well as acquiring fundraising from Australian donors.
