Chris MacLean

Subject Area Learning Leader - Individuals and Societies, Diploma Programme Global Politics and Theory of Knowledge Teacher, and Middle Years Programme 9&10 Teachers

 

Chris was raised in international schools and graduated from the IB program. He has lived in 11 countries and at least twice on each continent. Prior to obtaining teaching qualifications, Chris completed a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and a Master’s in Global Politics from the London School of Economics. Chris previously worked as a Humanitarian Journalist with the United Nations, and as a Social Entrepreneur, facilitating his ability to make classroom concepts relevant through personal stories and case studies. As an educator, Chris feels tremendously fortunate that he gets to teach a subject he loves every day. Chris also coaches basketball. Outside of school, Chris enjoys being active and playing sports, reading while drinking coffee, having meaningful conversations, and going on adventures with his family. His wife Laura Neagos teaches DP, MYP and PYP French. His two children Caden and Elisa both attend UWC Thailand as well.
