We welcome applications from students around the world throughout the school year. We encourage those interested in applying to UWC Thailand to visit our school first when possible. UWC Thailand is an inclusive school, and our admissions goal is to build a diverse community of learners. To do this, acceptance is based on aptitude, language, behaviour, academic record, and our ability to help each student maximise their potential within the context of existing class dynamics. We review each applicant on a case-by-case basis to determine enrolment suitability. When we offer admission, we are welcoming the whole family to UWC so it is important that everyone is aware of, and aligned with, the UWC Thailand mission and values.

UWC depends on the dedication and expertise of a network of more than 4,000 volunteers to find and select students in over 150 countries and territories. These volunteers are part of the UWC national committee system – a unique network that ensures every student is chosen through a fair process in their own local context.

UWC national committees (NCs) are volunteer groups that identify, select and prepare students for UWC schools, colleges and short courses. They assess each application within the context of the applicant’s country or territory, taking into account local opportunities and challenges. UWC national committees are also members of the Council of National Committees (CNC), which works with UWC’s leadership to shape the movement’s direction and strategy.

Members of UWC national committees include:

• UWC alumni
• Parents of UWC students or graduates
• Teachers and education professionals
• Community leaders who share UWC’s mission and values

UWC national committees run fair selection processes that reflect local realities. They reach out to underrepresented groups to help ensure diversity and inclusion, and offer financial support based on need where available. Many help students prepare for life at UWC, often drawing on alumni experience, and provide parents with information and advice — all to ensure every student and family feels ready for the journey ahead.

How UWC national committees build great school communities

UWC national committees know which groups are underrepresented in their region and are well placed to reach out to them, helping to build diversity, equity and inclusion across UWC schools and colleges. As many members are alumni, they understand what it is like to adapt to life at UWC and can offer guidance to help you settle in. They are also a point of contact for parents, offering reassurance and practical support before and during a student’s time at UWC.

UWC national committees are skilled at translating a global idea like UWC into something that works locally. Wherever you are in the world, there is likely a UWC national committee nearby, made up of people who believe in UWC’s mission and want to give more young people the opportunity of a lifetime.
