Our History

UWC Thailand joined the United World College movement in August 2016, becoming the 16th school to share the UWC mission: to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. Our journey to becoming UWC Thailand began in 2002, when our founder, Klaus Hebben, envisioned a holistic education model combining academic rigor, social and emotional learning, mindfulness, sports, and the arts.

We are proud to be Thailand’s only international school south of Bangkok fully authorized to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes: Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). This achievement reflects our commitment to providing a world-class education that is both challenging and inclusive.

The IB encourages students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. Key benefits of our IB programmes include:

  • Making connections
  • Academic rigour
  • Comprehensiveness
  • International mindedness
  • International recognition

In line with our motto, ‘Good Heart, Balanced Mind, Healthy Body’, UWC Thailand is dedicated to nurturing the whole person. This guiding principle emphasizes a joyful and supportive environment where mental and emotional balance is given equal importance to academic excellence.

Our unique educational model encompasses:

  • Social and Emotional Learning and Mindfulness: Integrated into the classroom and recognized globally, including by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
  • Service and Sustainability: Our students actively engage in conservation efforts, such as mangrove restoration and local community service projects.
  • Outdoor Education and Activities: With access to state-of-the-art facilities, our experiential learning programme inspires resilience, teamwork, and personal growth.
