Our History

UWC Thailand joined the United World College movement in August 2016 and became the 16th school to share in the UWC mission: to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.

We are currently Thailand’s only international school south of Bangkok that is fully authorised to offer three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes: Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programme.

The IB encourages students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. The key benefits of an IB school’s programme include:

  • Making connections
  • Academic rigour
  • Comprehensiveness
  • International mindedness
  • International recognition

UWC Thailand is founded on the fundamental principle of providing a caring, supportive, and joyful environment for all members of our community so that we grow as individuals. This is seen as both a personal and a collective responsibility. The concept of developing the whole person is deeply embedded into our motto, ‘Good Heart, Balanced Mind, Healthy Body’. To achieve this aim, the school offers a holistic educational programme that encompasses academics, social and emotional learning and mindfulness, service, outdoor education, and activities. Within an environment of authentic differentiation, equal emphasis is placed upon mental and emotional balance and academic rigour. Students learn how to learn, analyse, think creatively, and reach thoughtful conclusions; making it a demanding programme that encourages students to reach their highest potential.

In this, our 15th Anniversary year as a school (and 7th year as a UWC), we look forward to honouring our school legacy throughout this school year and in celebrating 15 years of educational innovation through a much anticipated Historical Report currently being developed under the guidance of our School Board and with contributions coming in from our entire community. We look forward to sharing this Historical Report with our community in June 2023!
