Katherine (Kathy) Mendis
Grade 2 Teacher
Kathy joined UWC Thailand in 2019, but has been part of the UWC Thailand community since her daughter began attending Nursery in 2015. She considers herself a multicultural person having been born in Germany, grown up in Hong Kong, and lived and worked in England, U.A.E and America. Kathy originally completed her BSc in Hospitality Management. With her daughter growing up, she decided to change careers, following a similar career journey as her parents, who were both educators. In addition to a BSc, Kathy has a Post Graduate Certificate of Education and is trained in the IB’s Making the PYP happen. Kathy is a cheerful and passionate educator. She has experience working in the Primary School teaching Grades 1 and 3, and is now teaching in Grade 2. She is a frequent world traveler who loves running, horse riding, reading and spending time with her daughter. Growing up, her family spent holidays in Phuket so she has been fortunate to witness the growth and change in the island. She and her daughter are so happy to call Thailand their home and be part of the UWC Thailand community.
