Aleka Bilan

Director of Wellbeing

Aleka is third generation global nomad who has lived most of her life outside her two passport countries (Brazil and the United States). An international educator for over 25 years, she was previously an IB History teacher and then served many years as a Head of High School Counseling departments in large schools in Asia. Most recently, Aleka has become a certified professional academic life coach, supporting students and adults through cross-cultural transitions. She believes that positive transitions-care and a sense of belonging are essential to learning, teaching, parenting and leading in schools. As a servant leader, Aleka aims to empower individuals to care for their own well-being.

Aleka joins the UWCT community as a parent of an Upper Primary and an MYP student, and spouse to a secondary Design teacher. As a family, we enjoy paddle boarding, hiking, and watching fantasy movies. For my own well-being, I get out in nature, on the water, practice yoga and meditation, and try to trail run.
